At SeniorSparq, we share a deep passion for empowering individuals at every stage of life to flourish with optimal health and happiness. The journey began in 2012, when Melanie and Jesse first crossed paths. At the time, Melanie was leading the well-being strategy for a large integrated healthcare system in Southern California, serving over 14,000 employees and physicians. Over the years, both Melanie and Jesse continued to grow their leadership within the healthcare industry, contributing to major health systems across the country.
As Jesse expanded his work, he brought his expertise into the senior living sector, supporting numerous communities. Along the way, Ashley, an experienced insider with deep knowledge of senior living communities, joined the team. Meanwhile, Melanie joined the executive team at Blue Zones, a pioneering organization at the forefront of longevity research—research she had been incorporating into well-being strategies for over a decade.
While at Blue Zones, Melanie noticed a growing interest from retirement communities wanting to apply longevity principles to benefit their residents. Around the same time, Jesse was hearing similar feedback from his senior living leaders. Despite many communities offering robust well-being programs, there was no comprehensive framework to assess the overall resident experience, address longevity gaps using research-driven approaches, or position these communities as leaders in longevity through evidence-based differentiation.
That’s when SeniorSparq was born. We saw a need for a systematic approach to enhance resident well-being, driven by longevity research, and create a unique brand identity in the market that reflects these values. SeniorSparq offers the framework and expertise to help communities thrive by elevating the resident experience, quality of life, and fostering healthier, happier lives.
